Live Your Best Life!

Tracey Sellers, DC, CFMP

Dr. Tracey Sellers is a Functional Medicine Practitioner with a heart for people. She uses Functional Medicine to help you find the root cause of your symptoms and identify the biochemical imbalances that may be making you feel unwell. Functional Medicine is personal, individualized health care that deals with the underlying cause of illness, instead of just treating symptoms.

Whether you are suffering from an illness or simply not feeling your best, Dr. Sellers uses a thorough investigation of your health history, consultation, and cutting-edge lab testing to search for underlying physiological and biochemical processes that are contributing to your lack of wellness. Armed with all the information necessary to pinpoint the problem, she tailors the plan of care to your specific needs as an individual. She may use specific nutritional counseling, pharmaceutical grade supplementation, lifestyle modification intervention, or any combination of the three to support your healing process. Dr. Sellers seeks the easiest and most effective way to help your body restore homeostasis and feel alive again.

Best of all, Dr. Sellers listens to her patients and treats you like family, investing time and attention as she helps you achieve the results you desire. Most of the time, listening can give valuable clues to detecting underlying issues and serving patients by providing the best possible route to healing.  She seeks to create hope in healing, which is, sometimes, half the battle won already!

Dr. Sellers' Story

From Doctor to Patient to Almost Dead to
Living My Best Life!

Since my childhood, I have been the responsible one taking care of others and making sure they have everything they need to experience the very best in life. That desire led me to a career in healthcare, as I have always been passionate about scientific study, caring for people, and finding solutions to complex problems. Healthcare was a natural fit. I always believed that the body is uniquely designed to regain health given the right environment, nutrients, and lifestyle. However, it wasn’t until June of 2006 that I had a very personal encounter with my own mortality, and it was at that moment I had to put this belief into action!

Dr. Sellers' Story

During the first year of opening my own practice, I had a menstrual period that lasted eight months.  This wasn’t that unusual to me because I had struggled with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and irregular periods since I was 12 years old. Usually, when I would bleed more than a month a doctor would just prescribe the birth control pill (or three per day) to stop the bleeding and tell me to take pain medication as needed. Once I was stable I would take myself off the prescriptions, and within a few years the whole thing would start over again. I went through this cycle of events until the last time when it turned into a catastrophic event with polyps dying in my uterus, creating a life-threatening infection that

spread out my fallopian tubes into my abdomen. Thankfully, doctors performed emergency and secondary dilation and curettage and I was able to live another day. This was my first near-death experience.

Because I was put on three birth control pills a day once more to prevent hemorrhaging, I developed several blood clots in both legs. Thankfully, doctors performed emergency surgery to give me an inferior vena cava (IVC) filter to prevent any of the blood clots from reaching my heart and lungs. This was my second near-death experience.

So, birth control pills were no longer an option for me to take to avoid future clots, but how would we stop the bleeding? Well, after I voiced my concern, the doctor told me that I would be fine and not to worry. Three days later I was hemorrhaging and back at the hospital for emergency surgery to block the artery going to my uterus. This was my third near-death experience. I remained in the hospital for several days while they gave me three bags of blood to replenish some of what I had lost. My husband said that I lost so much blood that my teeth looked almost clear and I looked grey all over.

I ended up in and out of the hospital for two more surgeries to remove the IVC filter. The first time I was on the operating table, doctors discovered a blood clot had dislodged and was sitting inside the filter. Thus, the doctors had to postpone the surgery. Using natural pharmaceutical grade supplementation, I was able to dissolve the blood clot and they were able to remove the IVC filter on the second attempt.

My husband, Ryan, and I were incredulous, disillusioned by these experiences. This whole ordeal took almost a year of our lives, and it also took my brand-new chiropractic practice that I had to sell from a hospital bed.

As a chiropractic physician already in the healthcare field, I knew there had to be a better way.  As a relatively young, previously healthy woman, did I have to end up nearly on my deathbed three times? No, I didn’t! At that point, determined to discover the root cause of my illness, I took my health into my own hands. I did all the research I could to take steps to heal myself. And today I feel better than I have felt in my entire life. I truly am Living My Best Life! No matter where you are in your health journey, I can help you Live Your Best Life too!

Hope in Healing

I am the perfect example that it is never too late to achieve wellness. And—the truth is, it is never too early. Although I am grateful for where my journey took me, that horrible set of circumstances of mine could have been prevented, and prevention is always the best medicine.
